About the talk:

Krakowski Teatr Tanca performed at TEDxKrakow, which took place on 25 October 2013 at Stara Zajezdnia in Kraków's Jewish district. Our theme this year was Make! and was a celebration of making. We asked our speakers to explore and demonstrate the practice, and to ponder what it takes to make more makers. We featured some of Krakow's makers and created a dedicated maker space to encourage our audience of over 600 people to have a go at making something -- anything!

Recorded during: TEDxKraków 2013

About the speaker:

The name Krakowski Teatr Tańca (Kraków Dance Theatre) is appropriate, given the dance troupe’s penchant for the theatrical. This is evident in KTT’s choice of topics around which they base their performances, ranging from Jewish history to contemporary gender roles. They aim to establish a dialogue with the audience and they are known for their energetic and creative performances.

Formed in 2008, the troupe is led by choreographer Eryk Makohon, a former architect and ballroom dance instructor who has spent years shaping the contemporary dance scene in and around Kraków. In addition to staging regular performances, KTT established and conducts the METAphysical Laboratory, a sort of training ground for future KTT members as well as anyone interested in learning the artistry and techniques of modern dance and acting. KTT’s performance at TEDxKraków will show just how well their dancers are trained.
