About the talk:

Artist Cecylia Malik is well known in Kraków for her highly visual projects that highlight the issues surrounding our city's public spaces. She is a graduate of the painting programme at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków with a post-graduate degree in curation at the Jagiellonian University. In 2010 she won the public vote as the Artist of the Year in Gazeta Wyborcza's "Cultural Departures" competition for Kraków. Her most recent project, the Modraszek (Common Blue butterfly) Collective, galvanised the citizens of Kraków and started a beautifully civilised dialogue with the city authorities on the subject of our public spaces, achieving what years of letter-writing and complying with formal process couldn't.
