Adam Karcz

Adam’s passion for science and engineering and his love of a challenge was evident from a young age. Before he had even finished high school, he had won numerous contests and competitions in nuclear physics. In his first year at the Warsaw University of Technology he got to see bigger and even more difficult projects, such as Poland’s first satellite and the Skarabeusz Mars rover. Thanks to this, he learned that nothing is impossible.
This experience turned out to be pretty useful earlier this year, when on the first day of the NASA Lunarbotics Mining Competition in the US, Adam and the rest of the Husar Robot team learned that a usually punctual and stable courier company had lost the package that contained most of the robot parts, they had been working on for the best part of a year. As he says, “we adopted the Apollo 13 motto: failure is not an option” and with the help of the other competitors the Husar team battled to create in a week what it had taken them all year to prepare.
