TEDxKrakówCinema - a new initiative from TEDxKraków
We’ll be getting together to watch TEDTalks and TEDx talks and sharing the TED experience with Kraków
Each time we will focus on a different topic.
Why TEDTalks?
We’d like to create a comfortable space in Kraków for creative debates about the role of technology, education, human behaviour in creating a more harmonious future, where ideas are the source of intelligent and constructive collaboration rather than conflict.
This month
TEDxKrakówCinema is gaining more and more fans every month – our November edition was saw many newcomers, which fills us with optimism about future meetings!
Our guest this time was Tomasz Wiech, a Kraków photographer and one of the 2009 World Press Photo winners (he was awarded 3rd place in the “Daily Life” category). After watching James Nachtwey’s TED Prize talk from 2007, we discussed the role and ethical aspects of war photography – how it is used to manipulate the audience, what kind of person becomes a war photographer (or what kind of person they should be) and why such photos are taken at all. We tried to think about where to draw the line between facts and the photographer’s vision. The second TEDTalk we watched was Wael Ghonim’s talk about the Egyptian revolution in the context of new media and its influence on the events that took place there. This gave us a lot of food for thought for the rest of the long evening at Pauza…
