TEDxKrakówCinema - a new initiative from TEDxKraków

We’ll be getting together to watch TEDTalks and TEDx talks and sharing the TED experience with Kraków

Each time we will focus on a different topic.

Why TEDTalks?

We’d like to create a comfortable space in Kraków for creative debates about the role of technology, education, human behaviour in creating a more harmonious future, where ideas are the source of intelligent and constructive collaboration rather than conflict.

This month

We are experimenting with the format of TEDxKrakówCinema! For the May edition, we invited our favorite neuropsychologist and star of TEDxKraków 2011, Jerzy Vetulani. He chose the TEDtalks that we watched, and led a lively and humorous discussion. On the basis of the TEDTalks screened, the professor talked about the propensity of people to cheat and let himself be drawn into a discussion about whether the idea of God is a meme. We also wondered how the progress of civilization affects the IQ of successive generations, and whether our children are "smarter" than we were when we were their age. The main theme of our May discussion, however, was empathy and the processes that occur in the brain when we analyze the thoughts of our interlocutors, and thus returned to Professor Vetulani's theme from TEDxKraków 2011.

The new formula of the meeting was a great idea. All of the seats were filled several minutes before the start of the meeting, and the discussion inspired by the professor's statements lasted late into the night at Pauza club.
